Joseph Walker Gibson, Jr., 94, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at his residence surrounded by family.

Joseph was born on June 16, 1928, in Dyersburg, TN, to the late Joseph Walker Gibson, Sr. and the late Bessie Lee Daniel Gibson. He was the owner and operator of G&H Transportation for more than 25 years and had been a trucker for all his life. Joseph was a longtime member and deacon of Hillcrest Baptist Church and was devoted to his church, family and community. He enjoyed traveling and camping. Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Air Force in the Strategic Air Command with the 369th Bomb Squadron.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Fairview Cemetery with Bro. Phil Hall officiating. Family members and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his son, Joe Gibson III (Linda) of Newbern, TN; a daughter, Jane Moffett (Randy) of Tyler, TX; five grandchildren, Joe Gibson IV (Brandon), Steve Gibson (Beth), Jennilyn Gibson, Brenda Gibson and Jane Katherine Mesa (Bert); two step-grandchildren, Katy Norris and Lauren Gregory; five great-grandchildren, Jonas Akin, Owen Gibson, Carolann Gibson, Callie Gibson and Sally Cates; and a step-great-grandchild, Lylah Norris.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Bobbie Gibson; and a son, James Robert "Bubba" Gibson.

Pallbearers will be David Greer, Jr., Shelton Jones, Bubba Greer, Billy Greer, Miles Holland and Vandel Spoon. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons at Hillcrest Baptist Church and members of the Men's Senior Sunday School Class.
