Johnny M. Johnson, Sr., 70, of Newbern, died Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Regional Hospital of Jackson.
He was a retired Honey Bee Inspector for the State of Tennessee, a member of Perfect Faith Tabernacle in Troy, a former Mason, former member of Dyersburg Moose Lodge and a graduate of Dyersburg State Community College.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Delbert Ogden and Bro. George Moore officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Winnie Ogden Sykes Johnson of Dyersburg; a daughter, Kim R. Johnson of Newbern; a son, Johnny M. Johnson, Jr. of Roellen; two step-daughters, Judy Roberson and Linda Whitaker, both of Newbern; a step-son, Mark Sykes of Dyersburg; a sister, Patricia Moss of Dyersburg; a brother, Eugene Johnson of Oakland; two grandchildren, Josh Johnson and Kevin Johnson; five step-grandchildren, Joshua Roberson, Matthew Whitaker, Luke Whitaker, Bobby Sykes and Deborah Sykes; and one great-grandchild, JoLeigh Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas M. and Reba Savage Johnson.
Pallbearers will be Josh Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Matthew Whitaker, Teddy Ogden, Mike Pflueger and Justin Purdy. Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua Roberson and Luke Whitaker.
