Johnny Eugene Free, 67, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
He was a retired mental health counselor for Northwest Correctional Complex, retired Captain of the Army National Guard; member of Finley Baptist Church, member of Forked Deer Car Club, avid outdoorsman and a huge Tennessee Vols Fan.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Holy Hills Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeremy Ballinger officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Janet Free of Dyersburg; three daughters, Lori Ramsey Foster and husband, Joel, of Tiptonville, Kim Free Bennett and husband, Rick, of Olive Branch, MS and Merribeth Free Myers and husband, Jason, of Dyersburg; a son, James Ramsey, Jr. of Chicago, IL; his mother, Hazel Free of Finley; a brother, Quincy Free of Finley; five grandchildren, Heather Richardson, Dustin Ramsey, Torri Beth Myers, Bethany Bennett and Charlie Bennett; and a great-granddaughter, Khloe Ramsey.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Free.
The family requests that memorials be directed to American Cancer Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.
