John Davis White, 97, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Harborview of Dyersburg.

John was born on July 10, 1924, in Decaturville, TN, to the late, Robert M. White, Sr. and Lena Crawley White. He was a retired mail carrier with the United Postal Service and attended Parr Avenue Church of Christ. John proudly served in the United States Army during WWII, where he received a Purple Heart Medal and a Bronze Star Medal at Okinawa. John and all his brothers and sister served in the military. John was a graduate of Dyersburg High School and played football there. He was an avid hunter, hiker and outdoorsman. John was very involved in the development of the Tigrett Wildlife Management Area and Nature Trail.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, December 6, 2021 at Dyer County Memorial Gardens with Minister Jeanette Nance officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The White Family will receive visitors from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his two daughters, Pamela Lannom of Dyersburg, TN and Lena White Moody (Curt Fields) of Collierville, TN; two sons, Robert Lynn White (Zedna) of Dyersburg, TN and Johnny Bell (Libby) of Cartersville, GA; a brother, Charles Lynn White (Sharon) of Paxton, IL; nine grandchildren, Justin White, Jory White, Revel Lannom, Edward Lannom, Stacey Moody Gibson, John Ivan Moody, Shana Moody Snively, Jane Bell and Jordan Bell; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth White; three sisters, Ruth White, Eileen White and Sue White Luthy; five brothers, Robert M. White, Jr., James Roger White, Joel T. White, Kenneth White and Charles Lynn White; and a step-brother, Bill Starnes.
