John W. "Dugan" Spraggins, 78, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at his residence.
Born on January 27, 1932, John was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, retired Landscaper and a love of all creatures. He enjoyed fishing, working in his yard and loved baseball. He always greeted you with a big smile and a "Hi Hon". He was giving and kind and loved life. He was a Christian who saw no bad in anyone and a man with no enemies.
A memorial service will be from 6-7 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include his dog Tiger Spraggins; his extended families, Skyline Heights Family, Robert Alford and the late Audrey Alford, Carla and James Robert Fair, Brittany Gammons and fiancée, Robert, Rhonda Stephens and husband, Randy, Karen Walley and husband, Tim, Tonya Covington, Wesley Burns and husband, Randy, Don Holland and wife, Betty, and Andy Williams.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Byrd and Sarah Reynolds Spraggins; a sister, Margaret S. Smith; a brother; and his beloved dog, Jake Spraggins.
All that knew and met him loved him.
Jesus said in Matthew 12 verse 35:
A good man out of the good treasures of the heart bringeth forth good things.
He will be greatly missed and the things he brought most into our hearts was his gentle soul.
