John William Deckard, 64, of Tiptonville, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
He was a maintenance machinist for TVA, a member of Crockett Chapel United Methodist Church, member of American Legion Post 174 where he served as adjutant, 1963 graduate of Donelson High School, a certified locksmith and served in the Tennessee Air National Guard.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Crockett Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marita Burkeen officiating. Burial will be in Crockett Chapel Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive visitors at 11 a.m. today at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Davie Carol Deckard of Tiptonville; four sons, Patrick Deckard of White House, Jason Deckard (Genie) of Murfreesboro, Tenn. David W. Deckard (Jenny) and Pleasant View, Tenn. and John Deckard (Angela) of Panama City Beach, Fla.; a brother, David Clark Deckard of Goodyear, Ariz.; and eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Avery, Lloyd Dunn, Eddie Cain, Glen Rogers, Jerry Simmons, Todd Rogers and Terry Petty.
