Obituary

John Glen Childress was born in Dyersburg, Tennessee on October 4, 1949. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Childress of Dyersburg, Tennessee; and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Moore and Mr. and Mrs. Ivor Lee Childress of Dyersburg, all who preceded him in death. He is survived by the love of his life, Debbie Trail Childress of Jackson, Tennessee whom he married on November 21, 1998; daughter, Elizabeth Childress Western (Daniel) and grandson, Byron Glen Western of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; daughter, Jennifer Childress Rosbergen (Felix) and grandsons, Carter and Cooper Rosbergen of Bethel, Connecticut; his brother and sister-in-law, Winston and Veta Trail from Forrest City, Arkansas; and a host of cherished friends.

He passed away Friday, January 29, 2016 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

John was a past member of the Dyersburg Civitan Club, and had been an active member of the Dyersburg High School Band Boosters for many years. Mr. Childress worked as a Sales Associate at Sears in Jackson, Tennessee. He was a dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church in Jackson, Tennessee.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Grant Gaines, the Rev. Gary Snuffin, and the Rev. Dennis Smith officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church in Jackson and from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Edd Wood, Steve Blair, Tim Ball, L.V. Reed, John Morrow, John Latham, Bruce Dorris, and Chip Mann.
