John Franklin Allen, 87, of Tiptonville, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2008 at Healthsouth Cane Creek Rehabilitation Center in Martin.
He was a retired construction foreman for Arkmo Power, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and was an avid fisherman and trap shooter, having won the Tennessee State Trap Championship in the 1990s.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Dyersburg Funeral Home - Tiptonville Chapel with the Rev. Marita Burkeen officiating. Burial will be in Lake Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive visitors today at 1 p.m. at the Tiptonville Chapel.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherry Michie of Woodlands, Texas, and Terry Coppage of Braggadocio, Mo.; a son, Kenneth Wayne Allen of Memphis; a sister, Ruby Haynes of Decatur, Texas; six grandchildren, Scott Michie, Paul Michie, Alexis Michie, Todd Coppage, Colby Coppage and Daniel Allen; and a great-grandchild, Statyn Coppage.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen Allen; his parents, James and Sadie Allen; and a sister, Ruth Hollensed.
Pallbearers will be Frank Bobo, William Forrest, Bobby Cooper, Bobby Patterson, George Allen and David Gooch. Honorary pallbearer will be Johnny Inlow.
The family requests that any memorials be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
