Jerry Dexter Smith's Obituary
Jerry Dexter Smith, 68, of Dyersburg, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was a retired carpenter and a former employee of Oldberg Manufacturing and Riggs Supply Company. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ and a former Mason. Jerry was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at East Court Church of Jesus Christ with the Rev. Chuck Richardson officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Donna Starnes Smith of Dyersburg; a sister, Fran Ellis and husband, Steve, of Crawfordsville, FL; a granddaughter, Karlee Nicole Smith; and his father-in-law, Billy Starnes of Lenox.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jeremy Smith; his parents, Wilton and Elizabeth Potts Smith; a brother, Gene Smith; and his mother-in-law, Peggy Starnes.
The family requests that memorials be directed to The Church of Jesus Christ, 2250 East Court Street, Dyersburg, TN 38024.
