March 9, 1943 – November 19, 2020
Mr. Jerry Ray Foren, of Dyersburg, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2020 at his residence. He was born March 9, 1943 to B. & Mary Foren of Bradford, TN, where he lived most of his life. He was a graduate of Bradford High School and served in the Tennessee National Guard. He volunteered for many years as Treasurer for the Bradford Church of Christ. He is remembered as an avid gardener-always sharing his crops, as an excellent cook and devoted family-man. He retired after many years with the Brown Shoe Co. in Trenton where he was the warehouse superintendent but also liked to say that he was a "Hobby Farmer". Upon moving to Dyersburg to be close to his family, the Forens attended West Dyersburg Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Evaline Hampton Foren, his daughters, Camille Lynette Foren Colbert & husband, Curtis and Damaris Evette Foren Cook & husband, Kevin and his sister Elizabeth Foren Mosley. He was loved as "Poppa J" by his grandchildren, Claire Elizabeth Colbert, Hope Catherine Colbert, Henley Camille Cook and Hampton Cole Cook. He is preceded in death by his parents, B. & Mary Agatha Davis Foren.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2020 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home, conducted by Mr. Jim Chamblee. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until services begin.
The family request that memorials be made to West Dyersburg Church of Christ in memory of Jerry Foren.
