Jerry Mack Burse, age 75, of Ridgely, TN passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021 at West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital.

Born on May 12, 1946 in Dyer County to the late Vernice and Ruby Estes Burse. He worked as the maintenance supervisor for the TN Children's Home for over 20 years. He attended Ridgely Church of Christ and proudly served his country in the United States Army where he received the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the Combat Infantry Badge, the National Defense Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. In his early years, he enjoyed coaching and watching his daughters play sports and loved riding horses with them. Jerry was known for his witty demeanor, great personality and always being able to make you laugh.

The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Dyersburg Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home conducted by his nephews Mr. Wyman Earl Chism and Mr. Ricky Burse. Burial will follow in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely, TN.

Survivors include his two daughters, Debbie Smith (Mark) of Jackson, TN and Heather Storey (Brent) of Mt. Juliet, TN; one brother, Glen Burse (Delores) of Jackson, TN; two sisters, Nell Hathcock of Bradford, TN and Barbara Chism of Ridgely, TN; and two grandchildren, Brock Smith and Dustin Smith.

Honoring Jerry as pallbearers will be Mark Smith, Brock Smith, Dustin Smith, Brent Storey, Jack Walker, and Coy Hathcock. Honorary pallbearer will be Philip Scott.

The family ask that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to K-9 for Warriors or the Fisher House Foundation in memory of Jerry Burse and Mack & Malcolm Chism.
