Jerry Burks, 75, of Dyersburg passed away on Friday, October 17, 2014 at his residence.
He retired from Colonial Rubber Works after 20 years of service and went into the trucking business. He was owner/operator of Burks Trucking and hauled for Choctaw Transportation Co. He later worked for the City of Blytheville.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Peggy; one son, Randy Burks (Stephanie) of Finley; one daughter, Ginger Burks (Jack Troy) of Cottage Grove, TN; four grandsons, Derick Burks (Marie), Brandon Owsley (Tracy), Blake Burks, and Travis Burks; two granddaughters, Casey Troy Parker(Steven),and Kayla Barker(daughter of Robert and Selena Barker). He had two great-grandsons, Chris Burks and Hunter Burks; three great-granddaughters, Josy Burks, Melissa Burks and Rhylee Stiles; and one brother, Paul Burks of Halls, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, O.B. and Mary Burks; one sister, Joyce Fitzhugh; and two brothers, James Burks and Donald Burks.
Services will be Monday afternoon at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Clyde Thompson. Burial will be at Bellevernon Cemetery in Friendship.
Visitation will be Sunday evening 5-8 at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Chad McNeill, Alan Burks, Skipper Burks, Roger Ledford, Derick Burks and Brandon Owsley.
