Jerry Boyd Brooks, 80, of Bogota, TN, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021 at West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital.

Jerry was born on August 18, 1941 in Bogota, TN, to the late, Boyd and Nona Love Atchison Brooks. He worked in the Maintenance Department for Methodist Dyersburg Hospital for 26 years and was a member of Bogota Church of Christ. Jerry loved gardening, baseball, gospel and hillbilly music.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, August 30, 2021 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. John Huse Robinson officiating. Entombment will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

The Brooks Family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Due to the increase of Covid-19, the family requests that mask be worn at the visitation and funeral services.

Survivors include his wife, Janie Brooks of Bogota, TN; a son, Ricky Brooks (Cindy) of Dyersburg, TN; two daughters, Cathey Brooks of St. Louis, MO and Jerri Anne Whitman (Anthony) of Dresden, MA; a step-daughter, Glenda Phillips of Rome, GA; a step-son, Ricky Smothers (Darlene) of Dyersburg, TN; a sister, Lillie May Brooks of Hobart, IN; seventeen grandchildren; and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Franklin Brooks; and a sister, Frances Kambesis.

Pallbearers will be Sgt. William Lewis, Ben Bizzle and Zachery Brooks.
