Jerome Hamilton Shumate, 62, of Tiptonville, TN, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at the Regional One Medical Center in Memphis.

Jerome was born on March 28, 1962, in Union City, TN, to Mildred Louise Stephens Shumate and the late Jerome Dean Shumate. He was a retired farm laborer, mechanic and attended Jones Chapel Church of Christ. Jerome was an Eagle Scout, had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed listening to music. He loved riding four-wheelers and his dogs.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024 in the Tiptonville Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Rev. Clayton Mahan officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at the Dyersburg Funeral Home Tiptonville Chapel.

Survivors include his wife, Patti Shumate of Tiptonville, TN; a son, Jared Michael Shumate of Henderson, TN; his mother, Mildred Shumate of Tiptonville, TN; a step-son, Josh Ryan Abbott of Tiptonville, TN; his sister, Vanessa Shell and husband, Chucky, of Ridgely, TN; a granddaughter, Khloe Jean Abbott; and a niece, Madison Grace Garner.

Serving as pallbearers will be Cliff Berry, Sr., Cliff Berry, Jr., Larry Fulcher, Chris Fulcher, Kevin Allen and Jeff Cross.
