Janet F. Gargas

Janet F. Gargas, 75, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, at West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital, leaving behind cherished memories and a deep legacy of love and devotion.

Janet was born on March 14, 1951, in Blytheville, Arkansas. She grew up surrounded by family and friends in her hometown and graduated from Blytheville High School in 1969, an accomplishment she fondly remembered throughout her life. Janet spent many years contributing to her community as a secretary at East Jr. High School in Blytheville, where her warmth and kindness touched countless students, teachers, and staff. Her dedication to her work and her caring nature made a lasting impact on those lucky enough to know her.

In 2005, Janet and her family made their home in Dyersburg, Tennessee, but her Arkansas roots remained close to her heart. Beyond her professional life, Janet nurtured a variety of interests that brought her joy and fulfillment. She had a lifelong love of horses and was particularly fond of her dogs, who were constant companions and a source of happiness.

Above all, Janet treasured her family. She delighted in spending time with her loved ones, gathering together for laugh-filled visits and memorable occasions. Her grandchildren, Brynnan and Brooke White, held a very special place in her heart. Janet’s devotion to her family was unwavering, and she found great happiness in their company.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation services are under the direction of Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Janet is survived by her beloved husband, David Gargas, who shared in her life’s journey. She leaves behind her daughter, Stephanie White (Phillip) of Gosnell, AR; her sister, Suzie Ellis of Jonesboro, AR; and her treasured grandchildren, Brynnan and Brooke White. Their love and memories of Janet will endure as a testament to the bonds she so deeply valued.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Jeanne Scott Ellis; her sister, Karen Ellis; and her dear friend, Debrah Glibert Lindquist. Their spirits will be forever intertwined with hers.

Janet F. Gargas will be remembered as a woman of steadfast love, commitment, and kindness. Her passion for animals, her meaningful work, and her devotion to family have left an indelible mark on the lives she touched. All who knew Janet are grateful for the time they shared with her, and her legacy will continue to inspire and comfort those she leaves behind.
