Ms. Jan Taylor-Kelt passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Oakwood Community Living center in Dyersburg.  She was born February 19, 1925 in Downers Grove, IL, to Willard & Jennie Baxter and was a graduate of the University of Illinois.  She was a long-time resident of Dyersburg and later in life enjoyed living in Florida part-time.  For many years, she worked in newspaper journalism, first as the Dyersburg Bureau Chief for the Memphis Commercial Appeal, then as the City Editor for the Dyersburg State Gazette.  She was a dedicated community servant, as a board member for McIver's Grant Public Library, a member of the Dyersburg Garden Club, as a volunteer leader for the Girl Scouts for 25 years and a long-time member of First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Robin Taylor Pipkin & husband, Mike, her sisters Beth Hinton & Marjorie Doty, her grandchildren, Clifton McLain, Bonnie McLain, Kyle Taylor and great-grandson Mitchell Allen.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, Arthur Taylor and Bob Kelt, her son Baxter Taylor, her daughter, Gayle Taylor McLain and sister, Sally Perron.

Family and friends are asked to gather for a graveside memorial service that will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg, with Rev. MaryBeth Bernheisel officiating.
