James "Shorty" Thomas Joyce, 69, of Ridgely, TN, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at his residence.

He was born on June 16, 1949, in Ridgely, TN, to the late Cas Joyce and the late Mamie Manns Dycus. Shorty was a retired supervisor for Econo-Mail and was on the bowling league while in Cicero, IL and attended the River of Life Church in Ridgely. He was an avid fisherman and loved camping, traveling and listening to Country Music.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2019 in the Ridgely Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Clayton Mahan officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at the Ridgely Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Cathy Joyce of Ridgely, TN; two daughters, Tracy Welborn (Rick) of Ridgely, TN and Barbara Joyce of Crest Hill, IL; three brothers, Bub Hodoe (Pat) and Bill Joyce, all of Ridgely, TN and Finis Joyce (Bobbie) of Lake Cormorant, MS; three sisters, Bonnie Stoneburner (Tom) and Barbara Henson (Lilbern), all of Ridgely and Betty Hopper (Tommy) of Hornbeak, TN; a sister-in-law, Patsy Joyce of Ridgely, TN; three grandchildren, Stacy Ussery (Miles), James Welborn and Wesley Giles; and two great-grandchildren, Madilynn Rose Ussery and Mason Louis Ussery.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest "Junior" Joyce.

Pallbearers will be Michael Bargle, Thomas Stoneburner, Tony Stoneburner, Jamie Hodoe, Jarrod Prince and Gerald Prince. Honorary pallbearers will be James Welborn and Wesley Giles.
