James Luther Smith, Jr., 63, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital.

He was born on September 24, 1955, in Dyersburg, TN, to the late, James Luther Smith, Sr. and the late Frances Alene Taylor Smith. James was a self-employed carpenter and was a Pentecostal by faith. He was a member of the Dyersburg Moose Lodge and was an avid poker player, fisherman and hunter. James served his country in the United States Navy.

Services will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2019 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Ennis officiating.

The family will receive visitors from 3:30-6 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his three daughters, Jamie Smith of Dyersburg, TN, Marsha Starzitski (Johnnie) of Dundee, FL and Anna Smith of Center, TX; a sister, Charlotte Bennett of Dyersburg, TN; two brothers, Aubrey Leake (Pauline) and Steve Smith, all of Dyersburg, TN; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Nathan Wade Smith; a sister, Dorris Vonell Riggs; and a grandson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Rogers, Gene Hall, Doug Lewis, Joe Cocker, Rick Leigh and Johnny Cribbs.
