James Leyon Sherrill, 71, of Tiptonville, TN, passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at his residence.

James was born on February 12, 1951, in Waynesboro, TN, to the late Howard and Lillie Murray Sherrill. He was a self-employed electrician and loved drag racing.

Cremation services are under the direction of Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his two sisters, Finetta McClain of Murfreesboro, TN and Margie Gooch of Tiptonville, TN; a brother, Jerry Sherrill of Union City, TN; a grandchild, Hayden Butts of Shelbyville, TN; and a great-grandchild, Cambri.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a daughter, Cher Butts; a son, Ben Sherrill; a grandson, Tyler Cruse; three brothers, Jimmy Sherrill, Donald Ray Sherrill and Dale Sherrill; and a sister, Gail Sherrill.
