James Phillip Nicks, 62, of Dyersburg, TN, passed from this life on Monday, April 9, 2018 at his residence in Dyersburg, TN.

He was born on October 29, 1955 to Laverne Riley Nicks and late James O. Nicks of Newbern, TN. In 1973, he graduated from Dyer County High School. He was an active member of Phillips Street Church of Christ. Phillip was a retired Bindery Operator at World Color Press, where he worked for 21 years. He also enjoyed working on electronics and doing carpentry work. Phillip was a devout husband, father and family man.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2018 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. David Dial and Bro. Andy Brewer officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Barbara Nicks of Dyersburg; a daughter, Tara-Lyn Nicks of Dyersburg; his mother, Laverne Nicks of Dyersburg; two sisters, Amanda Petty (Alan) of Wynnburg and Lydia Nicks of Dyersburg; two nieces, Ashley Kate Nicks of Wynnburg and Katy Beth Jones of Dyersburg; and numerous extended family members and friends.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Claire Nicks; and a son, Jay Phillip Nicks.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Shults, Glen Phillips, Eric Meeks, Mike McLaughlin, Alan Petty and Jimmy Jones.
