James Robert Haggard, known to many as a dependable and steadfast presence, passed away on August 15, 2026, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, TN. Born on December 16, 1960, in Tiptonville, Tennessee, James led a life defined by dedication—to his work, his family, an d his passions.
James was the beloved husband of Joy Haggard of Tiptonville, TN, with whom he shared many cherished years. He was a devoted father to Randee Haggard of Tiptonville, TN, He is also remembered fondly as a caring brother to Sheila Livingston (Roy) of Dyersburg, TN and Anna Baker (Kevin) of Newbern, TN. James was preceded in death by his parents, Travis Haggard and Linda May Wallace Haggard; and a daughter, Crystal Wilson.
Throughout his accomplished career, James made his mark as a General Electrical Contractor for AMTEC, a position from which he retired. He approached his work not merely as a job, but as his main hobby and a source of great pride. Known for his tireless work ethic and reliability, his colleagues and acquaintances regarded him as a true professional and a loyal friend.
Beyond his dedication to his career, James cultivated a deep appreciation for music and the open road. Playing the guitar brought him joy and solace, and he often found freedom and exhilaration riding his motorcycle—a pastime that reflected his spirited nature. At home, James’s warmth extended to his two beloved dogs, Duke and Mavis, who were his loyal companions and brought him endless comfort.
James Robert Haggard will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to those he loved, his steadfast commitment to everything he undertook, and his enduring kindness. His life, though marked by hardship and loss, was equally characterized by resilience, affection, and the legacy of integrity he leaves behind.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at the Tiptonville Church of Christ. Burial will be at Lake Memorial Gardens. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The Haggard Family will receive visitors from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at the Tiptonville Church of Christ.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Tony Wallace, Randy Smith, John O'Neal, Kevin Baker, Roger Allen and Russ Helwig.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, whose lives were enriched by his presence.
