James Edward Burton, 74, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at his residence.

James was born on March 8, 1947, in Murfreesboro, TN, to the late, Jimmy and Flora Mai O'Neal Burton. He was a school bus driver with the Dyer County School System for 27 years and enjoyed fishing. James served in the Tennessee National Guard for 27 years.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation services are under the direction of Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Burton of Dyersburg, TN; a daughter, Katherine Burton of Illinois; one son, Jimmie Burton of Dyersburg, TN; two step-sons, Johnathan Jones (Amanda) and Billy Gilliam (Theresa), all of Dyersburg, TN; a sister, Margarret Vandsaul; and eight grandchildren, Colten Burton, Carley Burton, Carson James Burton, Micheal Jones, Kimberly Jones, Harley Gilliam, Calbe Gilliam and David Gilliam.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a son, Ken Burton; and two brothers, Martin Ray Burton and Bill Burton.
