Mike Buckelew, 61, of Tiptonville, died Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
He was a retired correctional officer for Northwest Correctional Complex, attended Phillippy Baptist Church, a former member of Tennessee Army National Guard and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Tiptonville Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Julian Huey officiating. Burial will be in Buckelew Family Cemetery in Tiptonville.
The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Buckelew of Tiptonville; a daughter, Lyndsey Darnell of Samburg; a son, Michael Buckelew of Shawtown; a step-son, John Cashion of Union City; a step-daughter, Krisie Huey of Obion; a sister, Sondra Phillips of Ridgely; two brothers, Jimmie Buckelew, Jr. of Mesquite, TX. and Dennis Buckelew of Union City; two grandchildren, Lexie Jones and Kyler Buckelew; and three step-grandchildren, Josh Huey, Luke Huey and Levi Huey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie Sr. and Rebecca Newsome Buckelew; and a sister, Donna Buckelew Shuford.
Pallbearers will be Aubrey Messer, George Paris, Gene Watson, John Cashion, Jason Huey and Josh Huey.
