James Harold Brooks of Dyersburg, TN went home to be with his Lord on November 14, 2010.
He was born in the Bobwire Community near Bogota, TN on October 11, 1928, to the late Earl Brooks and Annie Lee Cooper Brooks. He served in the U.S. Army in the late 1940's before marrying his wife of 61 years, Earline Hood.
Harold farmed until he went to work at GTE Sylvania in the late 1960's, and after Sylvania closed he operated the Greyhound Bus Station until his retirement.
He was a member of Lenox Baptist Church at his death and for many years served as Training Union Director at Miston Baptist Church.
Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Brenda (Jim) Edgin, and sons, Randy (Connie) Brooks, David (Kay) Brooks, Billy Gene (Ann) Brooks, Ronnie (Joyce) Brooks, Ricky (Pam) Brooks, Kevin Brooks, twenty grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his three sisters, Estelle Long, Martha Brooks and Louise Brooks.
Pall Bearers will be grandsons, Eric Brooks, Brandon Brooks, Ben Brooks, Jonathan Brooks, Ricky Wayne Brooks, Derrick Brooks, and Beau Brooks, Chad Edgin will be an honorary Pall Bearer.
Visitation will be, Tuesday, November 16, 2010, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2010, in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Rudy Ring, Billy Brooks and Jimmy Chandler officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.
