James Howard Autry, 65, of Dyersburg, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
He was a retired truck driver for USF Holland Trucking Company and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church #2 in Rives, TN. He was a 1966 graduate of Obion County Central High School. Mr. James was a former police officer in Union City and worked several years for Combined Insurance Company. He was an avid golfer and fisherman and a member of the Dyersburg Moose Club.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Obion County Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Drew Hayes officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Parker Autry of Dyersburg; a daughter, Shellie Autry Tidwell of Union City; a son, Shane Autry of Nashville; two step-sons, John Baker and Justin Baker; a brother, Danny Ray Autry of Jackson; two grandchildren, Casidy Tidwell and Coy Tidwell; three step-grandchildren, John Tyler Baker, Seth Baker and Braxton Baker; a uncle, Howard Burtchett of Corvallis, OR; and three cousins, Linda Engstrom, Billy Morris Autry and Sandra Lee.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey James Autry; and his parents, Jesse James and Agnes Jewel (Burtchett) Autry.
