Jack Raymond Helton, 83, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at the West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital.
Jack was born on December 26, 1938, in Ridgely, TN, to the late William Roley Helton and the late Elsie Mae Lankford Helton. He has served in the Tennessee Highway Patrol, was chief deputy of the Dyer County Sheriff's Office and served as a counselor at the West Tennessee High Correctional Facility. Jack was a baseball coach for the Dixie Youth League and the travel ball. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dyersburg and was a member of the Dyer County Coon Club. Jack proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 2022 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Dr. Phillip Cook and Dr. Mary Beth Bernheisel officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Helton of Dyersburg, TN; three sons, Greg Helton, Kee Helton (Gerry) of Jackson, TN and Jon Helton (Katherine) of Dyersburg, TN; two daughters, Pam Holland (Barry) of Newbern, TN and Heather Wyrick of Dyersburg, TN; three brothers, Billy Helton of Conyers, GA, John Helton of Ripley, TN and Paul Helton (Martha) of Rogersville, AR; a sister, Martha Miller of Memphis, TN; eight grandchildren, Carson Helton, Dylan Helton, Tyler Helton, Logan Davenport, Zachary Holland, Bradley Holland, Sidney Wyrick and Luke Wyrick; and a great-grandson, Jace Helton.
Pallbearers will be Eric Dowell, Barry Holland, Steven Permenter, Clay Chambers, Darrell McElrath and David Quick. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church, 100 McGaughey Street, Dyersburg, TN 38024 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
