Jack Wilson Cartwright, 86, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.
He was a member of Second Baptist Church, a decorated veteran of World War II, was named to the Patriot National Roll of Honor for selfless service to America's hospitalized GI's and veterans and ministered on a voluntary basis at the Tiptonville Correctional Facility.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Turner and the Rev. Bill Ivy officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Nolen Cartwright of Dyersburg; three sons, Marshall Lynn Cartwright of Dyersburg, Greg Cartwright of Ft. Walton Beach, FL. and Joel Cartwright of Mary Esther, FL.; two step-sons, Gary Nolen and Larry Nolen, both of Dyersburg; a step-daughter, Diane Benson of Dyersburg; eleven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lorene Cartwright; his parents, Bill and Iva May Brent Cartwright; a brother, J.C. Cartwright; and a grandson, Joshua W. Cartwright.
Pallbearers will be Paul Cartwright, Jeff Cartwright, Chad Cartwright, Justin Cartwright, Matthew Cartwright. Honorary pallbearer will be Joshua W. Cartwright.
