Obituary

J.E. Williams, 77, of Tiptonville, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at his residence.

He was a retired maintenance employee for Reelfoot Packing Company and the state of Tennessee Department of Corrections, a member of Antioch Baptist Church, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, where he received a Purple Heart medal, lifetime member of American Legion Reelfoot Post 174, served as commander, secretary/treasurer for over 20 years, assisted with Reelfoot Arts and Crafts Festival through the American Legion for many years and enjoyed fishing, hunting and outdoors.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Tiptonville chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Leggett officiating. Burial will in Tiptonville City Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors at 5:30-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Faye Williams of Tiptonville; two sons, Greg Williams and Craig Williams, both of Tiptonville; a sister, Joyce Marie Tierney of Mexico, Ariz.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Okle and Georgia Williams; and a brother, Thomas Stockton.

Pallbearers will be Tim Naifeh, Jeremy Hopper, Corey Glidewell, Mike Hawks, Chuck Oliver and Pleas Luker.
