Isaac Lewis Shell, Jr., 80, of Ridgely, died Friday, June 3, 2011 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was retired from the U.S. Corps of Engineers, where he worked for 28 1/2 years, member of First Baptist Church in Ridgely, member of The Masonic Lodge in Tiptonville, retired volunteer from the Ridgely Fire Department, where he served for 30 years, very active in the events of Ridgely, member of American Legion, member of VFW Post in Union City, enjoyed fishing and being with his family and an Army Veteran of Korean War.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Ridgely Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Bragg and Brian Funderburk officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Dyersburg Funeral Home in Ridgely.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Nettie Jo Shell of Ridgely; two daughters, Judy Shell Dennison of Medina and Carla S. Miller and husband, Dick, of St. Petersburg, FL.; two sisters, Karnese Shell wood of Ridgely and Hines Davis and husband, Roy, of Waynesboro; five grandchildren, Sara Fuller and husband, Dan, of Medina, Michael Dennison and wife, Audra, of Raleigh, NC., Chesley Dennison and wife, Jenny, of Jackson, Chris Miller and Garrett Miller, both of St. Petersburg, FL.; and two great-grandchildren, Zac and Liza.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac Sr. and Callie Jarred Shell.
Pallbearers will be Paul Shell, Scott Shell, Chucky Shell, Greg Shell, Will Shell and Chris Shell. Honorary pallbearers will be Robin Shell Seratt, Kent Patterson, Trent Patterson, Doug Maddox, Danny Markham, Jerry Deal and Charlie Mac Deal.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Ridgely First Baptist Church Youth Department.
