Ingeborg Karolina Jowers, 97, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at The Bay at Dyersburg Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Ingeborg was born on March 14, 1927, in Wurzburg, Germany, to the late Josef and Karolina Lutz Harteis. For 15 years, Ingeborg taught German Language and Culture to the United States Army Servicemen that were stationed in Germany and surrounding areas. In 1966, Ingeborg moved to the United States and settled in Dyersburg, TN. She became a naturalized citizen on May 1, 1972. Ingeborg worked at First Citizens National Bank for over 30 years and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. She also worked in the nursery at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 40 plus years. Ingeborg loved being in nature, her dachshund and children. She also taught German Classes to Dr. Daniel Green, Dr. James Flatt and to anyone else that was eager to learn the language.

A celebration of life service will be from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2024 at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church Sanctuary with Rev. Dr. Pam Phillips-Burk speaking. Any friends of Ingeborg are welcomed to share stories about her life. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her very close friends, Jane Cutler, Sandra Pruitt, Donna Everett, Tom and Addie Horn, Dr. Danny Green, Ramona Stevenson and Mandy Pierce; her caregiver, Rosie Ramey; and many friends. She is also survived by many people she cared for at Cumberland Presbyterian Church as her children because she did not have any of her own.
