Holmes "Holmer" Franklin Moore, 83, of Finley, TN, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Holmes was born on April 19, 1940, in Dyersburg, TN, to the late Melton and Lilly Mae Brock Moore. He was a truck driver for Wal-Mart, Overnight and FEMA. Holmes was a former contractor and loved to build houses and businesses in and around Dyer County. He loved fishing, hunting, being outdoors and his family. He was a member of Junction Church of God. Mr. Holmes was the widow of Carolyn Sue Shipley Moore who passed away in January 2023.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, October 20, 2023 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Waters officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

The Moore Family will receive visitors from 2-3 p.m. Friday, October 20, 2023 at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his son, Holmes Edward Moore (Debbie) of Finley, TN; a sister, Pearl Marie Embry of Memphis, TN; three grandchildren, Amber Smith, Candice Moore and Robert Clark; and two great-grandchildren, Johnathan Hawks and Mason Vestal.

In addition to his parents, Holmes was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Moore; a son, Tracey Lee Moore; a daughter, Pennie Sue Moore; and a brother, Holland Moore.

Pallbearers will be Vick Burns, Clark Brock, Mark Enochs, Mike White, Don Smith and Randy Goff.
