Hellen Caldwell Rice, 87, of Dyersburg, formerly of Tiptonville, died Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Dyer Nursing Home.
She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse, a member of Tiptonville Church of Christ, former Avon representative, she was a graduate of Tiptonville High School, and a graduate of University of Tennessee at Martin. She grew up with her grandfather, George R. "Papa" Hopson in the historic Caldwell-Hopson home on Wynn Street in Tiptonville, Tennessee. In 1941, she married Wyatt R. "Bob" Algee, Sr.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Tiptonville Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Don Reel officiating. Burial will be at Tiptonville City Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 5-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Tiptonville Chapel.
Survivors include her two daughters, Elaine Zaricor and husband, Joe, of Dyer and Jennifer Campbell and husband, Joe, of Tiptonville; a son, Dr. Robin Algee and wife, Janis, of Dyersburg; eight grandchildren, Travis Farmer, Jeremy Farmer, Kristi Lavelle, Lee Algee, Lynn Algee, Dr. Chris Newton, Joey Ragan, and Lori Beth Callens; and ten great-grandchildren, Sydney Algee, Max Algee, Christian Lavelle, Peyton Lavelle, Jenny Lin Ragan, Russell Fred Ragan, Tanner Newton, Taylor Newton, Ty Parmenter, and Krista Farmer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Rice; her parents, Fred J. and George Ella Hopson Caldwell; a sister, Ellen Caldwell Stevens; and a brother, Fred "Bubba" Caldwell.
Pallbearers will be Lee Algee, Lynn Algee, Jeremy Farmer, Travis Farmer, Joe Zaricor, and Shelby Barker.
Memorials may be directed to Tiptonville Public Library or the American Heart Association.
