Harold Richard Kay, 86, of Dyersburg, formerly of Union City, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Tennova Healthcare Dyersburg Regional.
He was born July 3, 1931 in Rome, Ga. and served during the Korean War in the U.S. Navy and was the first service member to return to his home town of Lindale, Ga. He was a long-time Mason and member of the Al Chymia Shrine Temple and the Scottish Rite. He served as a deacon in the Church of Christ before moving to Dyersburg. He retired after serving as plant manager for Alumax, a division of Alcoa.
He is survived by his wife, Doris, of 66 years, two daughters, Sharon Kay Regen and husband Bob of Union City and Terri Kay Pike and husband Victor of Dyersburg. His grandchildren include Angela Regen Davis and husband Jay of Union City, Richard Alan Pike and wife Jonanne and Robert Andrew Regen and wife Brooke of Dyersburg and Natalie Kay Greer and husband Marshall of Birmingham, Al. His great-grandchildren include Jayce Tucker Davis, Elly Grace Davis, Holland Kay Pike and Parker Elizabeth and Presley Kay Regen. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elizabeth Kay and is survived by his half-brothers and sisters; Anthony and David Kay and Nancy Gilbert, Rochelle Chenelli and Carol Crider.
Visitation will be begin at Dyersburg Funeral Home on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. with Graveside Funeral Services held at 10:30 a.m. at Dyer County Memorial Gardens.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
