Grady Marvin, 82, of Tiptonville, died Thursday, May 21, 2009 at his residence.
He was retired as a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper and correction officer for the Lake County Regional Correction Center, a farmer, an Army veteran of World War II, a member of Harmony Masonic Lodge, 32nd-degree Scottish Rite, a member of the American Legion, past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, past president of the Tiptonville Civitan Club, and past commander of the VFW.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tiptonville Church of Christ, where he was a lifelong member, with Don Reel officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely.
The family will receive visitors at 5-8 p.m. today at the Tiptonville Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Willa Dean Martin of Tiptonville; a daughter, Melanie Marvin Hill and husband, Blaine, of Smyrna; a son, John Derrick Marvin and wife, Mary Louise, of Friendship; a stepdaughter, Belynda Jo Adams of Birmingham, Ala.; a stepson, Kyle Adams of Lauderdale, Miss.; three grandchildren, Michael Marvin, Alex Hill and Emily Hill; a step-grandchild, Madison Rose Adams; and a great-grandchild, Kameron Marvin.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lou Marvin; his parents, Joseph and Lula Campbell Marvin; and a grandson, Jeffrey Allen Marvin.
Pallbearers will be Michael Marvin, Alex Hill, Belynda Jo Adams, Laura Hinton, Kyle Adams and George Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers and friends.
