Gordon Lee Rogers, 86, of Tiptonville, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at his residence.
He was a retired insurance agent and a member of Crockett Chapel United Methodist Church, where he was very active in all church activities. He was a member and past twice President of Kiwanis Club, member of American Legion and a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Crockett Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marita Burkeen officiating. Burial will be in Crockett Chapel Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 5:30-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Tiptonville Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia McKeel Rogers of Tiptonville; a daughter, Cindee Bates and husband, Keith, of Tiptonville; three sons, Glenn Rogers and wife, Dorothy, Brent Rogers and Todd Rogers and wife, Peggy, all of Tiptonville; a sister, Mary Virginia Woods of Tiptonville; six grandchildren, April York, Shelly Wright, Brian Bates, Cassidy Rogers, Chase Rogers and Tara Rogers; and three great-grandchildren, Danny Wayne Evans, Bailey York and Bryce York.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lassie Sharp Rogers.
Pallbearers will be Brian Bates, Cassidy Rogers, Chase Rogers, Danny Evans, Donnie York and Rodney Wright. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Simmons, Eddie Cain, Logan Wildenberg, Michael Wade Moore, Don Glascock and J.T. Burrus, Jr.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Crockett Chapel Cemetery Fund.
