Geraldine "Gerry" VanDyke, 91, of Dyersburg, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Pine Meadows Nursing Home in Bolivar, TN.
She was a retired secretary for Dr. Robert Kerr. Mrs. Gerry was a member and former Children's Sunday School Teacher at First Baptist Church. She was Valedictorian of her high school graduation class at Humboldt High School and was a former Cub Scout Den Mother. Mrs. Gerry was also a member of the Summer Hill Garden Club and the Professional Secretaries International.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Hickman officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
The VanDyke Family will receive visitors from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Leonard VanDyke of Dyersburg; a son, Joe VanDyke and wife, Wendy, of Bolivar; and two grandchildren, Spencer VanDyke of Batesville and George VanDyke of Bolivar.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Cora King Duffey; a sister, Mary Inez Duffey; and three brothers, Joe Duffey, J.W. Duffey, and James Finner Duffey.
Pallbearers will be James Earl McDaniel, Bob Newbill, Frank Horner, Albert Ward, Edgar Shults, Jr. and Vernon E. Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Stevens and Jack Claiborne.
