Gerald Lavon Pitts, 82, of Tiptonville, TN, passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021 at Murray Calloway County General Hospital in Murray, KY.

Gerald was born on February 10, 1939, in Milan, TN, to the late, Richard and Mildred Rochelle Pitts. He was a retired Master Sergeant after 21 years in the United States Army, where he proudly served his country in Vietnam and Germany. Gerald was a member of Jones Chapel Church of Christ and was a member of the Tiptonville Civitan Club.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2021 at the Tiptonville Church of Christ with Mr. Wilford Mobley officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery in Hornbeak. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The Pitts Family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at the Tiptonville Church of Christ.

Survivors include his two daughters, Vera Shelton (Earl) of Clarksville, TN and Karen Montgomery (Jerry) of Kirksey, KY; eight sisters, Patsy Wadley, Brenda Mobley, Callie Jean Estes, Peggy Conner and Rachel Michael, all of Tiptonville, TN, Betty Bryson of Clarksville, TN, Janie Baker of Hohenwald, TN and Jennie Kay Miller of Dyersburg, TN; four grandchildren, Earl Shelton, Jr. of Clarksville, TN, Michelle Radford of Belton, TX, Jonathon Montgomery and Lauren Montgomery, both of Kirksey, KY; and two great-grandchildren, Mason Radford and Tyson Radford.

In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Ursula Schirdewahn Pitts.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Montgomery, Jonathon Montgomery, Earl Shelton, Sr., Earl Shelton, Jr., Shelby Barker, Jr. and Roy Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Pitts, Shelby Barker, Sr., Sherrill Barker, Bobby Upson, Jerry Grady and Lonnie Grady.
