Obituary

Gerald R. Lovell, 78, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022 at his residence after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Gerry was an avid golfer and Cubs Fan. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dyersburg. In 2009, he retired from Komatsu as a general manager. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran, who loved his country and his family and was a very happy and funny man who was full of life.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carol Lovell; a sister, Jeneine Robinson of Dale, IN; a brother, Ronald Lovell of Valrico, FL; three daughters, Kimberly (Dan) DeFranzo of Aledo, TX, Krista (John) Penland of Murfreesboro, TN and Kelly (Tyrell) Epps of Dyersburg, TN; and six grandchildren, Kylie and Logan DeFranzo, Alana and Jack Penland and Darius and Cassandra Swift.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Helen Lovell; two sisters, Thelma Weber and Lora Agnes Greathouse; and a brother, Delmar "Abe" Lovell.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2022 at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Dale United Methodist Church in Dale IN. with Rev. Mike Turner officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery in Newtonville, IN.
