Gerald "Sonny" Evans, 84, of Finley, TN, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Born on October 11, 1941, in Dyersburg, TN, he was the beloved son of the late Earl and Laverne Ozment Evans. Gerald was the owner and operator of Evans Machine Works and also owned Evans Cycle Shop. A motorcycle enthusiast, he loved his family and enjoyed visiting with all his friends and grandchildren.

Services will be at 12 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2026 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Trevor Sewell officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive visitors beginning at 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Survivors include his three sons, Gerald Evans and wife, Teresa, Anthony Evans and wife, Maleia, and Mark Evans, all of Dyersburg, TN; a daughter, Laticia Hicks of Jackson, TN; a brother, Buddy Evans of Dyersburg, TN; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Harris Evans; a son, Keith Evans; and his sister, Patsy Whitt.

Serving as pallbearers will be Eli Richardson, Keith Downing, Evan Wilson, Adam Smith, Mike Cowles and Barry Carlisle. Honorary pallbearers will be Bud Evans, David Quick and Keagan Wilson.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
