George Willie Yarbro, 92, of Dyersburg, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2014 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
He was a retired farmer and dairyman. He was a member of East Dyersburg United Methodist Church, where he served as a Sunday School Teacher, choir member and was the Sunday School Superintendent. Mr. George was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and received the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Jowers, Dr. John Lowrance and Mr. James Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. Saturday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Mittie Yarbro of Dyersburg; a sister, Betty Rickert of Dyersburg; a brother, John T. Yarbro of Dyersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Ethel Pierce Yarbro; two brothers, Thomas Yarbro and Earkett Yarbro; and five sisters, Judy White, Ebalee Tucker, Jessie Williams, Mary Ruth Gay and Stella Holt.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Holt, Henry "Bubba" Tucker, Alvin Burnett, Dent Yarbro, Bart Sorrell and Mike Tucker. Honorary pallbearers will be Dick Storey, Donald K. Baker, Jackie Keeling, Mike Montgomery, James Earl Johnson, Les Dieth, Dwayne Rice and George Rice.
The family requests that memorials be directed to East Dyersburg United Methodist Church.
