Obituary

George Vick, 81, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at his residence.

He was retired as a self-employed businessman, a 52-year member and captain of the ushers at First United Methodist Church; an Army veteran of the Korean War, a 50-year Mason, and an avid horseman and hunter.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Dyersburg Funeral Home with Dr. Phillip Cook officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Helen Pate Vick of Dyersburg; a son, Tim Vick and wife, Joy, of Dyersburg; and two grandchildren, Tyler Vick and Kyle Vick, both of Dyersburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Odessa Smith Vick.

Pallbearers will be Tim Vick, Tyler Vick, Kyle Vick, Bobby Pate, Keith Jones and Rhett McIntosh. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Pate, Joel Pate, Jerry Pate, Dan Pate, James Lockhart, George Mitchell and Kelly Puckett.

The family requests that any memorials be directed to First United Methodist Church.
