George Edward Scott, 75, of Ridgely, TN, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017 at Tennova Healthcare Dyersburg Regional.

He was born on May 10, 1941 in Chic, TN to the late Joe Raymond Scott and Lela Mae Morgan Scott. George was a retired truck driver for Melton Truck Line and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Union City, TN. He was also a member of the Ridgely Fire Department for 45 years.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in the Ridgely Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Henry, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Misty Staggs Scott of Ridgely; two daughters, Sara Scott of Ridgely and Mandy Scott Stewart and husband, Lee of Southaven, MS; a son, Adrian Scott of Ridgely; a brother, David Scott of Tiptonville; three grandchildren, Katie Wheeler and husband, Stephen, of Athens, AL, Emily Perry and husband, Matt, of McKenzie and Amanda Scott of Pleasant View; three great-grandchildren, Adian Wheeler, Alexis Wheeler and Caroline Perry; and his mother-in-law, Patty Johnson Staggs of Ridgely.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mike Scott; and three brothers, Charles Scott, Bobby Scott and Billy Scott.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Wheeler, Matt Perry, Lee Stewart, David Pickard, Trey Spicer and David Deason. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold England and Jesse Scott.
