George "Monkey Man" Freeman Pettie, 76, of Dyersburg, died Friday, August 17, 2012 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
He was a retired truck driver and a member of Tigrett Church of Christ.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Mac Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery in Elbridge.
The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Monday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Owen Pettie of Dyersburg; three sons, Mickey Pettie of Dyersburg, Kenny Pettie of Yorkville and Michael Owen of Dyersburg; a brother, John Petty and wife, Ruby, of Dyersburg; seven grandchildren, Kenneth Pettie, Michael Pettie, Anthony Pettie, Lowell Owen, Thomas Owen, Matthew Burr Owen and Timothy Pettie; and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Timmy Joe Pettie; his parents, C.B. Pettie and Ercell Tankersley Davis; a brother, Orell "Lightning" Pettie; and three grandchildren, Crystal Pettie, James Mickey Pettie and Timothy Ryan Pettie.
Pallbearers will be grandsons; Kenneth Pettie, Michael Pettie, Anthony Pettie, Lowell Owen, Thomas Owen and Matthew Owen.
