Obituary

George Jackson Jones, Jr., 37, of Obion, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Baptist Hospital in Union City.

He was a city carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. George was a U.S. Army Veteran and was a member of Combat Vets Association. He was also an active member of the Tennessee National Guard 913 Combat Engineers.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Lara Kendall Elementary Gymnasium. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The Jones Family will receive visitors from 5:30-9 p.m. Tuesday at Lara Kendall Elementary Gymnasium.

Survivors include his wife, Ginger Caksackkar Jones of Obion; two daughters, Breanna Bland and Summer Jones; two sons, Andrew Bland and Skyler Jones; his mother, Ann Dunn Jones Olhausen and husband, Tommy, of Obion; his father, George Jones and wife, Judie, of Tiptonville; a brother, Michael Lynn Jones of Tiptonville; two step-brothers, Jake Carrother of Kennedy, TX and David Olhausen of Ridgely; two step-sisters, Leah Lindsey of Lumberton, TX and Kerri Newson of Dyersburg; and a grandchild, Chandler Jackson Kuykendoll.

Pallbearers will be R.J. Hays, Jake Sadler, Richard Blackburn, Austin Williams, Jacob Chadwick, Adam Lyle, Travis Williams, and Matt Erwin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bo Lamb, Keith Gardner, B.J. Morgan, Ricky Dilday, Jake Mason, Jared Peyton, Josh Evans, and B.J. McBride.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the 913th Combat Engineers Unit in memory of Sgt. Jones or to the 913th Combat Engineers Unit for Sgt. Jones Children's Fund.
