George Jackson Jones, 72, of Tiptonville, TN, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital.

George was born on February 24, 1948, in Tiptonville, TN, to the late, Claude and Margaret Glass Jones. He was a retired city carrier with the United States Postal Service and was a member of the Tiptonville Church of Christ. George proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Air Force from 1969-1970. He loved to travel and play on the computer.

Cremation services are under the direction of Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Judie Jones of Tiptonville, TN; two sons, Mike Jones of Obion, TN and Jake Carrothers (Paula) of Kenedy, TX; a daughter, Leah Lindsey (Gene) of Orange, TX; a brother, Paul David Jones of Tiptonville, TN; a brother-in-law, Johnny Dean (Lori) of Tiptonville, TN; a special sister-in-law, Debbie Jones of Newbern, TN, ten grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved dog, Izzy.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his son, J.R. Jones; a sister, Frances Minton; and four brothers, Joe Jones, Carl Jones, Richard Jones and Jimmy Jones.
