George Belew, 78, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Dyersburg Manor Nursing Center.
He was retired as a 30-year co-owner of Belew and Ray Drug Store, an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, a graduate of Bradford High School, attended Union University where he was a member of ATO fraternity, and graduated from Samford College in Birmingham, Ala., with a degree in pharmacy.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Edmundson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter, Michelle Hailey of Dyersburg; a sister, Sue Crocker of Bradford; four grandchildren; and his companion, Marie Cartwright of Dyersburg.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Larkin Swafford Belew; and his parents, Carl and Bernice Belew.
Pallbearers will be Steve Laws, Calvin Litchford, Frank Burnett, Jimmy Welch, Mark Crocker and Butch Ladd. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Ray and Billy Cursey.
