Obituary

Gene Stutts, 87, of Dyersburg, died Friday, October 7, 2011 at Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt.

He was a retired clerk for the United States Postal Service and a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a lifelong member, Sunday School Teacher and Song leader at Fowlkes Methodist Church. He was a former Mason, former Boy Scout Leader and played the guitar, banjo and mandolin.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Edmundson officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive visitors from 1-2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his daughter, Sherry Turner and husband, Garland, of Milan; a granddaughter, Michelle Turner Eaton and husband, Billy, of Jackson; and a great-granddaughter, Bentlee Clarkson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Traylor Stutts; his parents, Tommy and Annie Phillips Stutts; two sisters, Lura Jacobs and Lela Bailey; and four brothers, T.C. Stutts, James Stutts, Oliver Stutts and Ernest Stutts.

Pallbearers will be Mike Wyrick, Jerry Price, Ronnie Doss, Eddie Davis, Hunter Price and H.P. Smith.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Fowlkes Methodist Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
