Mr. Ernest Eugene " Gene" Lee, of Tiptonville, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023 at the Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah, KY.  He was born September 25, 1934 to the late Ernest & Freddie Lee.  He was a long-time member of the Burrus Chapel Church of Christ where he taught Sunday School.  He was a well known school teacher in Lake County for over 40 years, keeping up with his students into their adult lives.  He was an avid sportsman and hunter.  He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend to all that he knew.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Lee, his daughter, Nancy Lee and a sister, Linda Lee Palmer.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held in the Tiptonville Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. conducted by Mr. Don Reel & Mr. Rossie Taylor.  Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m.  Interment will follow in Tiptonville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Douglas Avery, Bryan Avery, John Berry, Bill Denman, Corey Glidewell and Joey Hughes.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Albert Markham, Jackie Hutching, Harry Lee Rhodes, Bobby Crocker, John Runion, Jerome Shumate, Dennis Whitson, Ron Beckett, Daniel Garrett, Joel Estes, Lonnie Vaughn and Robert Griffin.

Memorial donations should be directed to Burrus Chapel Church of Christ, Hwy 22 Church of Christ or to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
