Obituary

Gene Hopper, 60, of Tiptonville, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

He was a self-employed mechanic and was the owner and operator of Hopper's Country Music. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, guitar player and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's ballgames. He was a Pentecostal.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the Church of God of Prophecy in Ridgely with the Rev. Clayton Mahan officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Sunday in the Ridgely Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Lynette Hopper of Tiptonville; a daughter, Crystal Tolley and husband, Jason, of Tiptonville; a niece whom he helped raise, Nikki Parker of Tiptonville; a sister, Cathy Sherrill of Tiptonville; two brothers, Danny Wheeler and Ricky Hopper, both of Tiptonville; and two grandchildren, Amber Tolley and Alexis Tolley, both of Tiptonville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Betty Berry Hopper; two sisters, Vicky Hopper and Teresa Hopper; and three brothers, David Hopper, Tony Hopper and Dennis Hopper.

Pallbearers will be James Tolley, Tommy Childress, Loren Leinweber, Tommy Dean, Wayne White and Shane Morgan. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry "Moose" Rhodes, Jeff Johnson, Charles Moore, Lynn "Baldy" Curvin, Pete LaMora and Tommy Hopper.
