Gene Autry Forrest, 85, of Hornbeak, TN, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital.

He was born on September 23, 1937, in Owl Hoot, TN, to the late, William Buford Forrest and the late Lillian Estell Johnson Forrest. Gene was a member of Hornbeak Baptist Church and was a lifetime member of the VFW American Legion Post 174. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2023 in the Ridgely Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Robert Johnson, Austin Norton and Rick Knoll officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 12-1 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2023 at the funeral home.

Survivors include his son, David Eugene Stern of Spokane, WA; two daughters, Virginia Lynn Daniels of Dyersburg, TN and Melissa Robin Borders of Valley, AL; and several grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Ruth Forrest; two sons, William Harold Gunter and Robert Lynn Stern; five brothers, W.C. Forrest, Russell Forrest, Bobby Forrest, Roger Forrest and William Forrest; and two sisters, Peggy Joyce Forrest and Ruby Ann McKenney.
